Job Opportunity: Communications Specialist

Public Health is now accepting applications for a Communications Specialist position to serve as the department’s communications lead on Zero Youth Detention activities. The King County Executive recently released the Road Map to Zero Youth Detention outlining strategies and actions to limit or avoid legal system involvement for youth, improve community safety, and restore youth in crisis on the path to well-being.

This is a TLT or temporary position, lasting until December 31, 2019 with possibility of extension.

Zero Youth Detention Support

To support implementation of King County’s Roadmap to Zero Youth Detention, this role will develop stories of promising and successful programs for reducing youth detention; leverage web and social media platforms to reach and engage priority audiences and show transparency; coordinate communications efforts across government and non-profit partners; support public engagement activities; develop and support communications plans; and provide technical communications support to programs.

Other Public Health Support

As a member of the Public Health communications team, this position will also make content contributions to a wide range of public health topics including communicable disease and environmental health.
